Reliance group is planning to use BSES as its launch vehicle in the power sector. The company is planning to transfer all its power businesses including projects under Reliance Power to BSES.

Reliance group is the single largest stake holder in the company with a 30 per cent stake. Explaining the rationale, Anil Ambani, managing director, Reliance Industries Ltd, said, "The company has a clear strategy in terms of power generation, transmission and distribution. All these businesses will be driven through BSES."

The group has already transferred its 48 mw power plant at Goa to BSES. Ambani said, "We are in discussions to offer them other projects. Where we have multiple enquiries we are also considering them for BSES."

Reliance officials said, the group is in discussions to transfer or sell the 500 mw Jamnagar power project which is integrated to the 27 million tonne refinery to BSES. The company is also in talks to transfer its 3,960 MW Hirma power project to BSES.

Ambani pointed out that the "BSES is also participating in picking up equity in Dabhol Power Company".
