BSNL, Pantel Tech launch Bharat Phone for Rs 1,799

Device has a 3-inch display and allows Internet browsing as well as access to email, Facebook and music/video downloads

State-owed telecom operator BSNL, in partnership with Pantel Technologies, launched an entry- level feature phone today for Rs 1,799 which comes bundled with 1,200 minutes of free talk time.
 
Called 'Bharat Phone', the device has a 3-inch display and allows Internet browsing as well as access to email, Facebook and music/video downloads.
 
"It gives me immense pleasure to announce the launch of Bharat Phone from Pental Technologies meant for the common man. BSNL always endeavours to serve and work for common man," BSNL CMD RK Upadhyay told reporters here.
 
A large number of consumers can access Internet on their phones at affordable price through this device, he added.
 
 
Three other devices were also launched which include 5- inch and 6.5-inch smartphones for Rs 6,999 and 7,999 respectively and a tablet PC for Rs 6,999. All the devices come bundled with BSNL special tariff vouchers (STVs).
 
"BSNL has bundled its data STVs with devices from Pantel technologies to make the bundled offers a lucrative one for different segments of society," Upadhyay said.
 
All the smart devices come pre-loaded with anti-malware offerings from TrustPort.
 
"We are affirmative that these products - bundled with attractive Internet and voice plans from BSNL, will gain quick market acceptance and saliency," Pantel Technologies Managing Director Vijender Singh said.
