Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP)--the flagship entity of the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL)""is planning to construct a multiplex at the outskirts of the steel city besides giving new shape to the township.

According to sources, the multiplex would come up near Ruabandha in 50-acre of land owned by the SAIL.

Though the authorities are preparing the design of the project, sources said the estimate cost of the project would be more than Rs 100 crore.

"The BSP management had invited proposals from noted planners and architects from different parts of the country and state," a senior BSP official said.

A team of planners from New Delhi and Mumbai are coming here in the last week of this month to select the site and prepare the design.

Earlier, the management planned to bring up the multiplex near civic center in the heart of the city.

Later decided to change the site following suggestions of a few local planners that civic center was not spacious to build a multiplex.

The senior officials decided to shift the venue to Ruabandha at the outskirts of the city.

Besides multiplex, the BSP management has also decided to renovate the Nehru culture center and convert it into a mega auditorium.

A bug marriage palace is also in the plan.

The vacant building of BSP would be renovated for the palace, sources said, adding that the management would be inviting proposals from planners of national repute for engineering the works.
