Fenesta Building Systems (FBS), a division of the Rs 1,550 crore DCM Shriram Consolidated Ltd (DSCL), has announced the launch of its operations in Bangalore.
 
DSCL has invested Rs 30 crore till date in its FBS division. The company plans to invest another Rs 2 crore per fabrication unit that will come up in the country over the next two years.
 
Fenesta has set up a state-of-the-art fabrication facility in Bangalore which will enable it to offer customised window solutions to the southern region. This facility is equipped with the latest machinery from Austria, Germany and UK and has an annual production capacity of 25,000 windows. Similar facilities have also been set up in Bhiwadi and Mumbai to cater to the local markets there.
 
Initially, FBS would set up fabrication units in Hyderabad, Chennai and Gujarat. The division plans to register a turnover of Rs 100 crore in the next five years.
 
FBS has introduced its complete range of environment-friendly UPVC windows and door systems in Bangalore under the Fenesta brand. FBS' announcement comes after it launched this product in Delhi, Pune and Mumbai.
 
According to Ajay S Shriram, chairman and senior managing director, DSCL, "The product fit is excellent in this market given the climatic conditions. It can be fitted within buildings being renovated and also for replacement."
 
UPVC windows account for about two-third share of the market in developed markets of Europe and USA. In China it is experiencing a growth rate of almost 100 per cent per annum. DSCL has entered into technology collaboration with Heywood Williams Group of UK (HW).
