The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has given Chennai-based water management company VA Tech Wabag an order worth Rs 217 crore for the construction of a waste water management plant. The order comprises Rs 194 crore towards construction of 60 million litres per day (MLD) waste water treatment plant at K&C Valley with power generation and Rs 23 crore towards operation and maintenance for a period of seven years.
Presently, Wabag has been operating and maintaining five sewage treatment plants for the BWSSB -- Kadabesanahalli, Nagasandra, K R Puram, V Valley and K&C Valley, and treats 488 million litres per day (MLD) waste water for Bangalore city and with this order, the waste water treatment by Wabag would cross 500 MLD mark."
The new project is funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
“We are delighted to get this repeat order from BWSSB which is one of our key clients in municipal sector,” company Managing Director Rajiv Mittal said.
Recently, the company bagged a $350-million desalination plant contract as part of an international consortium in Oman.
VA Tech Wabag's shares closed at Rs 527 up 1.36% on the BSE as against the previous day's close.
