Neyveli Lignite Corporation's (NLC) Rs 5,907 crore lignite-based thermal power project in Tamil Nadu is expected to come up for consideration of the Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure tomorrow, sources said.
"The 1,000 Mw project is likely to get the CCI nod," an official in the Coal Ministry told PTI.
NLC is planning to set up a 2x500 Mw project in Cuddalore district of the state.
The project had come up for discussion in the public investment board in November last year, the company said yesterday.
Currently, NLC operates three thermal power stations at Neyveli and one at Barsingsar in Rajasthan with a total installed capacity of 2,740 Mw.
