A day after the Delhi High Court quashed the government order stopping the rollout of conditional access system (CAS) in Delhi, the cable industry today set a deadline of December 15 for its implementation in the capital.

The much-delayed CAS roll-out will commence in the south Delhi zone even as the Centre has been quiet on its stand on the implementation.

Senior government officials declined to comment on the rollout after a meeting with cable network companies.

Government officials also remained tight-lipped on whether it would appeal against the Delhi High Court order, asking it to put the system in place.

In a meeting with senior information and broadcasting ministry officials, cable network companies, including Siti Cable, Hathway, RPG and Sumangali Cable Vision, said they would go ahead with the December 15 deadline and that all pay channels in the south Delhi zone would be available through set-top boxes only thereafter.
