Cairn India today said it would begin crude oil production from its prolific Rajasthan fields from the third quarter of 2009 calendar year.
"We are on track to start producing oil from Q3 2009," said Rahul Dhir, chief executive officer, Cairn India.
The first production would be through a 30,000 barrels per day capacity first train and crude oil would be transported in trucks to refiners.
The second train of 50,000 bpd capacity would commence in the fourth quarter in conjunction with the starting of pipeline from Barmer district in the state to Gujarat coast. The $800-million pipeline would transport crude to multiple refiners for processing.
The third 50,000 bpd capacity train would commence in the first half of 2010, along with Mangala field, ramp up to full capacity of 1,25,000 bpd.
"In the revised field development plan, we have included a fourth train of 75,000 bpd which will take our processing capacity to 2,05,000 bpd and optimise capital cost of Mangala," Dhir said.
Cairn in first phase in developing Mangala, Bhagyam and Aishwariya fields - three of the over two dozen finds the company has made in the Rajasthan block. "Plateau production of 1,75,000 bpd with a fourth 75,000 bpd capacity train, will commence in 2011," he said.
