Fine Metal (India) has launched new automotive calcium batteries with Japanese technology. The company claims the batteries will have high cranking power at normal and low temperature, high-reliability and low degradation rate, and provide greater protection against bumps and vibrations. |
Talking to Business Standard, Fine Metal India Director Ved Rajpal said, "Currently, the company is into the production of weighing scales, battery plates, distilled water, lead, stabilizer and home UPS. The new calcium batteries under the brand name 'Taiwa' would target all auto segments. The major benefits of the new batteries would be quick recharge, low maintenance, vibration durability and long cycle life." |
He said though the company's distribution network was restricted to the north only at present, it was planning to spread its network in other states. We are importing calcium and other batteries from top-class battery manufacturers in other countries like Thailand, Korea and Malaysia. |
"We have a turnover of over Rs 3 crore per annum under our flagship G R Enterprise and we plan to cross Rs 5 crore by next year. The Taiwa batteries are about 60 per cent cheaper as compared to those of other major players but have an extended life. |
A majority of the batteries currently sold are lead batteries, but calcium batteries will rule the future. Unlike lead batteries, calcium batteries do not get discharged even if they are not used for 20 days," he claims. |
Talking about the company's future plans, Rajpal said the company was planning to open a manufacturing unit in South Africa and would finalise the details next month. With the boom in the auto sector, there would be a huge demand for batteries and we plan to expand our operations in other parts of the country, he added. |
