A consortium of Canadian infrastructure companies represented by Stantec Consulting and Minaean International Corp signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat Infrastructure Development Board (GIDB) at Vibrant Gujarat. The agreement marks an important step in Canada's contribution to Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) projects, a statement here said.

Canadian consulting and engineering firms have already been active contributors to the DMIC.  "The signing of the MoU between the Canadian Consortium and Gujarat Infrastructure Development Board will open the door for increased collaboration and cooperation by Canadian companies in the Dholera Special Industrial Region," the official release said.

Speaking following the signing, Canada's Minister of Labour and the Status of Women Kellie Leitch said "Gujarat's urban development story is being watched by the world, and this is an exciting opportunity for Canadian companies to be part of it. The members of the consortium are renowned in Canada and abroad for contributing to world class urban centers."

In addition to Minister Leitch, the Premier of the Province of Prince Edward Island, Robert Ghiz and Ontario Minister of Provincial Parliament Dipika Darmela also witnessed this historic agreement. The consortium comprised Stantec, a consulting firm with expertise in planning, engineering, architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, surveying, environmental sciences, project management, and project economics; Minaean International Corp, a light gauge steel construction company;  WSP Global, a firm with expertise ranging from environmental remediation to urban planning.

Canada is the fourthth largest exporter of engineering services globally.
