The Care Hospitals group (Care), a city-based multi-specialty hospital chain, is setting up a new 250-bed hospital at a cost of Rs 200 crore at Hitec City. It has acquired an existing 300,000 sft built-up area, spread over 12 floors, for this purpose.

Besides Care’s traditional areas of specialisation including cardiac, neuro and renal sciences, the new hospital would focus on oncology and organ transplants. The hospital would to start operations by December, this year.

The new facility is being funded by an equity investment from Care’s key shareholder, global private equity firm Advent International. It follows Care’s recent addition of a 100-bed facility in Visakhapatnam.

The establishment of a new facility in Hyderabad “will further enhance our clinical offerings and help to deepen our services in several specialties. We are now in a position to provide a broad range of high-end tertiary care services across a larger platform,” Care founder and chairman, B Soma Raju, stated in a press release on Tuesday.

According to Care chief executive officer Dilip Jose, setting up of another hospital is in line with the cluster strategy that Care has adopted across its network to ensure scale and leadership.

Since Advent International’s investment in April 2012, the press release stated, Care has grown its footprint from 12 hospitals and 1,600 beds in seven cities to 17 hospitals and 2,400 beds in nine cities today.

The company is also stated to be in advanced stages of opening a greenfield hospital in Bhubaneswar which, coupled with ongoing expansions at existing facilities in Raipur and Pune, will add another 600 beds, taking the total beds in the Care network to approximately 3,000 by the year-end.
