Sachin Bansal-backed online restaurant service SpoonJoy has ceased operations in Delhi and parts of Bengaluru. The Bengaluru-based firm which started operations in June 2014 raised $1 million back in May 2015 led by SAIF partners.
At the time the company said it would expand into Delhi and Mumbai within two months. Manish Jethani, founder of Spoonjoy did not return calls nor responded to an email query on the status. Like many food-tech startups in the country, SpoonJoy is said to have burned through funds and is unable to raise more money.
Rival Yumist took a dig at SpoonJoy when it tweeted "Let us be the spoon to feed you with some real joy." on twitter.
