Noida-based diversified business conglomerate Dharampal Satyapal (DS) Group, known for its Catch brand of salt and spices, is targeting a turnover of Rs 230 crore in 2010-11 from the products under the Catch brand.
If achieved, this would be a 59.72 per cent jump over Rs 144 which the Catch brand contributed to the Rs 1600-crore group in the last fiscal.
"The Catch brand is expected to contribute Rs 230 crore to the DS Group in this fiscal. Ever year, we are launching 5-7 new products as well as variants of our existing products. We are soon going to roll out biriyani masala and shahi pulao masala”, said Satish Rustagi, business head (food division) of DS Group.
Rustagi stated that Catch has been posting a growth of 60 per cent compared to the industry average of 30 per cent in the branded market for spices in the country. In Orissa, we are growing even higher at 100 per cent, he claimed.
The total spices market in India stands at Rs 40,000 crore out of which the branded market accounts for only Rs 5000 crore. The size of the unorganized market is estimated at Rs 30,000 crore while exports of spices are worth Rs 5000 crore.
