Cauvery Electrodes to go in for copper-coated steel wires

Cauvery Electrodes (India) P Ltd, a Bangalore-based company that manufactures welding electrodes, has announced its foray into the mild steel copper-coated wires. The company has opened a manufacturing facility at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore at Jigani, near Bangalore.
 
The capacity utilisation of the unit is 72 metric tonnes in three shifts and will be fully utilised.
 
These wires will come in four sizes "" 0.80 mm, 1.00 mm, 1.6 mm and 1.8 mm "" in 12.5 kg spools at a price range of Rs 65-72 per kg.
 
In addition, the unit will also manufacture special electrodes that include low hydrogen electrodes, creep electrodes and maintenance electrodes with the per piece price ranging from Rs 1.50 to Rs 30.
 
According to Peeyush Shukla, managing director, Cauvery Electrodes (India) Ltd, "Our marketing strategy will include developing our dealer network as well as our direct approach to end consumers. We are looking at exports as well. Currently, we have an order for nearly 800-1,000 tonnes. We have set up the unit to cater to the needs of large and medium-scale industries who have made a transition from conventional stick electrodes to mild steel copper-coated wire. A technical committee to monitor changes and upgradation in technology has also been put in place."
 
The wires will be manufactured under the brand name 'Monarch Reel' and will rely on a dealer base of 150 for its sales. The company has about 70 customers throughout Karnataka. Manufacturing will commence in the next 10-14 days.
 
The company will source its steel requirement from Steel Authority India Ltd and Tata Steel. Cauvery Electrodes registered a turnover of Rs 1.5 crore during the previous fiscal and is planing to more than double its revenues this year.
