The CBI today handed over copies of the charge sheet to the counsels of scam-hit Satyam Computer accused, including former Chairman B Ramalinga Raju, in a local court here today. The CBI had filed charge sheets in the multi-crore rupee financial fraud in the designated court on April 7.
At the court of the XIV Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, besides charge sheet copies, the copies of 1,532 original documents, lists of witnesses, and copies of their recorded statements and other documents relating to the case, all loaded in 18 big trunks, were handed over to the counsels of the nine accused in the charge sheet.
Later, Bharat Kumar, counsel of B Ramalinaga Raju, told the media that "now it is (the) beginning of a real legal battle". He alleged that the CBI filed the charge sheet without completing the probe.
"We have to go through and mark each and every page of the documents and will decide our future course of action," said Bharat Kumar, who is the team leader of the Satyam counsels. He said the CBI has deleted Section 409 of the IPC (criminal breach of trust) in its charge sheet and recently it got the permission of the court to further investigate the case.
It shows that the agency deliberately filed an incomplete charge sheet to deny the legitimate right of the accused to get bail. "We will definitely approach an appropriate court for bail," he said.
