The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has issued look-out notices to all the airports in the country against two directors of the Hiranandani Group in connection with an alleged Rs 9-crore provident fund scam.

Niranjan HiranandaniThe directors — Niranjan and Surendra Hiranandani — have been named as accused in a case registered by CBI on March 29, 2008, for an alleged fraud in provident fund deposits.

The CBI said the two directors failed to respond to the notices sent to their residences directing them to remain present for questioning. “We do not know where they are, hence “look-out” circulars have been issued against them in all the airports across the nation,” CBI DIG Praveen Salunkhe said.

Hiranandani Group has business interests in real estate development. Darshan Hiranandani, another director, claimed both Niranjan and Surendra had been to CBI office several times for questioning.

“I do not know why there is this sudden urgency to issue a look-out circular. We have been in constant touch with CBI with regard to this case. Both Niranjan and Surendra, who are out of India for some work, will now cut short their trip and return to Mumbai in a day or two,” Darshan said.
