Cell Subscribers Grew 5% In Feb

Cellular subscribers in four metros have grown by 5.04 per cent in February, 2002. The subscriber base touched 23.73 lakh in February from 22.59 lakh in January, 2002.

The main operators in the metros include Hutchison, Bharti Tele-Ventures, BPL Mobile and RPG Cellular, among others.

Bharti Cellular has retained its numero uno position in Delhi with a cellular user-base of 5.48 lakh as on February 28, 2002 against 5.15 lakh in January, 2002. Its rival, the Hutchison-Essar promoted Sterling Cellular and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam, have 3.67 lakh and 61,498 users, respectively.
