Cement firms hike prices in south India

Major cement companies have hiked prices in south India by Rs 8-12 per 50 kg bag.

The price hike was about Rs 8 in Tamil Nadu and about Rs 10 in Kerala.
In Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, the prices have been hiked by an average of Rs 10-12, industry officials said today.

India Cement, UltraTech, Grasim, Ramco and Dalmia Cement had increased prices in the recent weeks, they added.

Following the hike, the price of a 50 kg bag in Tamil Nadu stands at an average of Rs 165-170 while it will be Rs 180 per bag in Kerala.

"Different companies have different strategies. On an average, all companies have hiked prices by Rs 8-12 per bag in south India," an official of India Cement said.
