Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (Bhel) has established Centres of Excellence for Computational Fluid Dynamics (COE-CFD) and Simulators (COE-S) at its corporate research and development (R&D) division in Hyderabad. |
Established with an investment of over Rs 8 crore, the COE-CFD is expected to enhance Bhel's capability in the field of computational fluid dynamics (CFD). |
CFD has emerged as an important tool capable of giving designers valuable insights into the behaviour of fluid flow in complex geometrics. |
The COE-CFD will cater to a wide variety of products for the power and industrial sectors. CFD is gaining wide acceptance among the designers of power plant and industrial equipment as an engineering tool for simulating viscous 3-D flows in various machines. |
The CFD group, formed in the early nineties at Bhel's corporate R&D, has developed expertise by successfully executing projects in application of CFD for a wide variety of products such as steam turbines, exhaust hoods, bowl mills, boiler auxiliaries, hydro turbines and heat recovery steam generators , said a company release. |
