Dearth of skilled workforce has made most of the chief executive officers (CEOs) in the country spend more time dealing with talent management-related activities according to a survey by job portal monster.com.
As per the survey — CEO as the Chief Talent Officer Study 2011 — 73 per cent of Indian CEOs spend over one-fourth of their time managing talent-related activities.
“Most CEOs today play the role of the Chief Talent Officers. It is imperative for the CEOs to attract, develop and retain the right talent as people are the biggest differentiator today for any business,” said monster. com’s Managing Director (India, Middle East & South East Asia) Sanjay Modi.
The survey interviewed CEOs from 114 companies across diverse sectors where around 80 per cent of the CEOs said human resource issues are core to their companies' success.
While 68 per cent of the respondents said time spent on talent-related activities has gone up in the recent years, 79 per cent said focus on such activities would increase next year.
“The increasing fear of unavailability of the right talent to execute their companies' strategies is leading CEOs to discuss people challenges more and more at the boardrooms,” monster.com said in a press statement.
