City-based sanitary ware maker, Cera Sanitaryware Ltd has reported net profit of Rs 7.65 crore for the second quarter ended September 2011 against Rs 6.09 crore registered in the corresponding period in the previous year. While company's profits rose by about 25 per cent, net sales for the period increased by about 28 per cent from Rs 56.85 crore in September 2010 to Rs 73.28 crore in September 2011.
In a statement issued to the Bombay Stock Exchange on Monday, the company indicated that its raw material cost more than doubled during the second quarter of this fiscal against that of last year. Expenditure towards consumption of raw materials jumped by over 114 per cent from Rs 4.08 crore in September 2010 to Rs 875.82 crore in second quarter ended September 2011. Total expenditure for the period under consideration, jumped by over 31 per cent to Rs 63.47 crore from Rs 48.11 crore in the corresponding period last year.
