Electricity regulator CERC today reserved admissibility of Reliance Power's petition seeking revision in tariff from Jharkhand project and will decide on the matter after hearing pleas from the power procuring states of Tilaiya plant.
Reliance Power had moved a petition to CERC seeking permission to increase tariff from its Tilaiya ultra mega power projects citing reasons such as increase in the cost of land, increase in cost of R&R (Resettlement and Rehabilitation) and rise in diesel prices, among other things.
CERC will hear all the respondents before deciding on admitting the company's petition. The commission is yet to announce the date of next hearing.
CERC hearing was presided over by Members Deen Dayalan and A K Singhal.
The company has said that the project would not be bankable unless CERC allows revision in tariff.
The company also said that during the construction period, the PPA (power purchase agreement) postulates certain changes.
Reliance Power is executing three ultra mega power projects of 4,000 MW capacity each in Sasan (Madhya Pradesh), Krishnapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) and Tilaiya (Jharkhand).
Each project is being set up at an estimated investment of Rs 20,000 crore.
UMPP is a coal-based thermal power project of 4,000 MW capacity each.
