The Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute has begun accepting registrations from India for the CFA exams, scheduled for June and December this year.

The candidates, however, will have to take the exams at the 175 centres outside India as the institute ceased operations in the country by not registering fresh candidates for its Level One course in September 2007.

The Institute at its India website said: "We will now permit people within India to enroll in the CFA programme and register to sit for the June and December 2008 exams at test centres outside India. We have revised our online registration process to reflect this availability."

The CFA institute emphasised that it has not obtained approval from the All Indian Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to offer the CFA exams at test centers in India as the programme is not registered with the AICTE.

Earlier this month, the CFA institute met with AICTE to seek approval for its India operations. The Delhi High Court in December had dismissed the CFA Institute
