The Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), which recently had its board meeting at Icrisat near here, has adopted a new Strategy and Results Framework to enhance the developmental impact of its work. The SRF would provide a coherent framework for strategic planning, management and communication within the organisation, it said.

The CGIAR is a global partnership of organisations engaged in agricultural research and the agencies funding their work. The funding agencies include developing and industrialised country governments, foundations and international and regional organisations.

Towards the new organisational goal, the CGIAR members identified four system-level outcomes, namely, reducing rural poverty, improving food security, improving nutrition and health, and sustainable management of natural resources.

The CGIAR board also adopted a modified organisational framework with CGIAR Fund and the Consortium of 15 CGIAR Centres serving as its two pillars. The Consortium board would formulates the CGIAR’s research strategy in partnership with the research centres, donors, partners and other stakeholders.
