Chandigarh to host Cyclothon on September 25

Hero Cycles, world’s largest cycling manufacturer, has, in association with the Chandigarh administration and Sport18 (the sports marketing division of the Network18 group), announced the second edition of the ‘Hero Cycles India Cyclothon’ in this city.

It would mark the the commencement of the World Tourism Week organised by the Chandigarh administration.

Chandigarh would host its second edition of Hero Cycles India Cyclothon on 25 September, which is aimed to promote the culture of cycling among citizens and is built on the dual planks of environment conservation and physical fitness.

O P Munjal, chairman and managing director , Hero Cycles, said Cyclothon aims to promote the spirit and practice of cycling.

 

Onkar Singh, secretary general, Cycling Federation of India, maintained CFI was looking to promote cycle awareness among people through events like Cyclothon.

Last year, Rs 50 lakh had been spent to promote cycling events in the country. This year, they plan to enhance the budget by 5-10 per cent.

Besides Chandigarh, Cyclothon is also organised in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Pune.
