Chandigarh to Jammu by Air Deccan flight

Facilitating the Mata Vaishnodevi temple bound passengers, Air Deccan has launched its direct flights from Chandigarh to Jammu and back.
 
Air Deccan's 48-seater ATR 42-500 will be the first daily direct flight on this route. Capt GR Gopinath ,COO, Air Deccan Airlines, said there had been persistent demand from travellers for an air connection from Chandigarh to Jammu.
 
"There was no train or air connectivity from Chandigarh to Jammu all this while. Hence, one had to travel all the way to Ambala in order to take a train to Jammu , which will not be the case henceforth," he said.
 
Travellers will now be able to cover the journey to and fro much faster, with travel time reduced to 65 minutes, from the 7 hour and 10 minutes by train, and fares as low as 2nd AC train fares, Capt Gopinath added.
 
"The promotional fare till November 15 will be Rs 1,000, and the regular fare after that will be Rs 1,500. Bookings will be open for travel between Oct 31 and Jan 31," informed an Air Deccan official.
 
The Delhi-Chandigarh-Jammu flight DN-537 will depart from Delhi at 12.50 pm, reach Chandigarh at 1.40 pm and leave for Jammu at 2 pm, reaching Jammu at 3.05 pm.
 
In the return flight, the Jammu-Chandigarh-Delhi flight DN-538 will depart from Jammu at 3.25 pm, reach Chandigarh at 4.30 pm and leave for Delhi at 4.45 pm, reaching Delhi at 5.50 pm. Deccan Aviation, a business unit of Air Deccan operates 15 scheduled helicopter flights daily from Katra to Vaishnodevi and back.
