Tube Investments of India, part of the Murugappa Group, will set up charging stations at various places for its BSA e-bikes, which will be launched in November.
It is also working on pay-and-use facilities for the e-bikes apart from designing customised units for apartments with a separate meter reading the power consumption.
Speaking to the media here, BSA e-bikes general manager KB Srinivasan said the company would have 12 dealers to cater to the Andhra market. In all, it will have about 40 dealers in the south and the number will increase to 70 by March.
The company will foray into the northern markets in the next phase. The charging stations will be based on franchisee and would also come up at colleges, malls and big parking lots.
The company will launch the e-bikes in five variants- three in the 250-watt segment and one each in the 500 watt and 800 watt segment. They will be priced between Rs 26,000 and Rs 33,000.
The company is targeting a 25 per cent market share in the electric scooter segment. Last year, 120,000 electric vehicles were sold in the country. The e-bike market in India is estimated at Rs 450 crore and is growing at 40 per cent a year.
