Cheema to set up packaging unit at Baddi

Mohali-based Cheema Printpac Ltd, a state-of-the-art printing press and packaging unit with fully integrated global sources, is setting up another unit in Baddi with an investment of Rs 4.5 crore.
 
The unit will be set up on a plot of land of one acre in Nalagarh with a capacity of 3,000 tonnes of boards per month. The company will employ 140 workers in Baddi.
 
Currently, the Mohali unit of printing and packaging in Mohali is giving employment to 75 workers.
 
Speaking to Business Standard, the 35-year-old Pratap S Cheema said the unit would cater for the demand of the upcoming industries, pharmaceutical units in the state of Himachal Pradesh.
 
The area of service includes pharmaceutical where it is catering to both national and international brands like Cipla, Wockhardt, and Ranbaxy. Also liquor, pesticides, photographic films, cosmetics, toiletries, and many other items are the industries, are the areas where the company is providing its expertise.
 
"Growth in FMCG would have a direct impact on growth in retail chains, cold chains and the packaging industry .We will soon be adding new products in our line from the FMCG sector and food products."
 
Cheema Printpac Ltd is promoted by Uttaranchal-based Cheema group of Industries, founded by Harbhajan Singh Cheema, currently the Akali MLA from Kashipur.
 
The company has a Kraft manufacturing unit with an installed capacity of 1,500 tonnes per month. Another Duplex Board manufacturing unit with an installed capacity of 300 tones per day will also have its capacity increased by 200 tones per day.
 
The company is going for indirect deemed exports and packaging from golf balls to pharmaceuticals. For now the company is not looking at direct exports. In 2004, the group's turnover was Rs 200 crore and is seeing an annual growth rate of 30 per cent.
