Pondicherry-based Chemfab Alkalis Ltd is the greenest caustic-chlorine company, followed by Shriram Alkalis & Chemicals Ltd and Indian Rayon & Industries Ltd, according to the findings of the Green Rating Project (GRP) of the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE).
The project has surveyed 25 companies, covering around 90 per cent of the caustic-chlorine industry in the country.
The centre has come down heavily on the industry for not paying enough attention to protecting the environment.
