Chennai Petroleum Corporation posts Rs 61 cr loss in Q4

Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd, a group company of Indian Oil, today reported a loss of Rs 61.06 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 2010.

However, the firm had posted a net profit of Rs 272 crore during the same quarter a year ago.

Total income of the company rose to Rs 5,534.27 crore in the January-March quarter of FY'10 from Rs 4,816.01 crore of the corresponding period a year earlier, CPCL said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

The company has declared a 120 per cent dividend.

For the full financial year ended March 31, 2010, the IOC-promoted firm posted a profit of Rs 603.22 crore. However, it had a loss of Rs 397.28 crore in the previous fiscal.

Total income decreased to Rs 25,207.73 crore in FY'10 from Rs 32,017.98 crore of the 2008-09 fiscal.

Shares of CPCL were quoting at Rs 253.50, down 1.05 per cent in the late afternoon trade on the BSE.
