Leading textile retailer Chennai Silks plans to open a showroom in important districts of Tamil Nadu, including Tirunelveli in the next two months. The company also plans to expand its global operations.
"We have ambitious plans to set our footprint in all the important district headquarters of Tamil Nadu. Plans are also afoot to open franchisee outlets overseas. Already, there is a franchisee showroom functioning in Paris," Chennai Silks GM Syed Mustaq told PTI.
Mustaq was here to inaugurate company's exclusive silk gallery at Karur and Tiruchirappalli.
The new silk gallery will showcase a rare collection of 25,000 silk sarees including premium varieties embedded with diamond, precious gems, gold and platinum fibres, he said.
The textile retailer already has showrooms in Chennai, Coimbatore, Tirupur, Erode, Trichy, Karur and Ernakulam selling designer sarees, churidhar and dress materials, formal and casual wear for men and kids.
Chennai Silks also manufactures sarees with a price tag of Rs 2 lakh, for which orders are accepted three months in advance.
The company offers it buyers the option of shopping online which is also doing good.
"Online sales have picked up in recent years. It has now touched 10% of the total sales," Mustaq said.
