Chettinad Cement buys 2 unlisted firms

Chettinad Cement today announced that it had completely acquired two unlisted companies "� Alagappa Cements and Valliammai Limes "� in order to access the limestone bearing lands owned by them. Limestone is the basic raw material used in cement production.
 
In a notice to the stock exchanges, Chettinad Cement said the acquisition would not add to its cement production capacity. The assets of the companies being acquired consists mainly of the limestone bearing lands.
 
The said acquisition is to be approved at the ensuing board meeting to be held on the January 17, 2006.
