State-run Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company (CSPGC) has recorded highest Plant Load Factor (PLF) among all generation companies across the country in the month of June 2010.
In the quarterly report issued by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) for April-June, Chhattisgarh's power generation company stood second in term of PLF.
The CSPGC recorded 88 per cent PLF in the month of June, which was highest among all the 27 generation companies in the country for the month, S P Chaturvedi, Managing Director of the company, said. The company in Orissa stood second followed by Andhra Pradesh, he added.
Orissa's power generation company, however, succeeded Chhattisgarh in recording the highest PLF in the first quarter of 2010-11. While CSPGC recorded 88.84 per cent PLF, the Orissa utility registered 92.41 per cent PLF for the power generated between April and June.
Company officials said that the installed power generation capacity in Orissa was much less than that in Chhattisgarh.
In Orissa, the state-run company produces 420 Mw while in Chhattisgarh, it is 1,780 Mw, Chaturvedi said, adding that the PLF recorded by the CSPGC for the quarter was also remarkable and satisfactory.

Moreover, the thermal power stations of the CSPGC are more than 25 years old. And running such stations at high PLF is an achievement, Chaturvedi said.
The constant and timely maintenance and strict monitoring have resulted in achieving the record, he added.
The CSPGC has, however, started the efforts to record 90 per cent PLF in the next quarter of the current fiscal.
