The Crime Branch-Criminal Investigation Department (CB-CID) of the Andhra Pradesh police on Wednesday filed a plea with the sixth additional chief metropolitan magistrate seeking an extension of police custody for three more days.
The Andhra police have taken custody of the disgraced Satyam founder B Ramalinga Raju, his brother and Managing Director B Rama Raju and former Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Srinivas Vadlamani on January 18 for interrogating the trio on the Rs 7,800-crore financial fraud that Ramalinga Raju had confessed in his letter on January 7.
According to sources, the CID sleuths are believed to have secured material proof of the fudged accounts of Satyam. The CID is seeking three more days custody for further questioning, they said.
The police custody of the Raju brothers and the former CFO will end tomorrow at 1000 hrs. The plea for extension will come up for hearing today evening.
Also, the bail petition for the Raju brothers and Vadlamani will be heard tomorrow. It came up for hearing on January 19 but was deferred to January 22.
