CII meet on HR practices

The Gujarat Chapter of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) will hold a one-day conference on best HR practices in India on Thursday in the city.
 
The objective of the conference, which would be attended by the industry majors including top officials from Mahindra & Mahindra, Infosys, Ashok Leyland, is to update the industry and academia on the emerging trends and latest HR practices with the thrust area being business excellence through HR.
 
"With the effect of globalisation, the shift is towards global trading, knowledge economy and information management, which has emphasised the importance of investment in employee development as a means of reward and retention, "said a CII communiqu"� issued on Tuesday.
 
With the emerging issues of performance being competition, cost-efficiency and faster growth, the role of HR has to change from employee care to supporting employee performance thereby becoming a productive member of the value chain," the statement said.
 
The conference would also have sessions on global competitiveness: strategic role of HR, which would cover the role that HR plays in the implementation of strategic initiatives to achieve global competitiveness, managing people and performance, which would highlight innovations carried out for managing talent and knowledge in ensuring world class performance and building effective HR systems, which would focus on value addition of HR to business by developing user-friendly systems and practices for better performance.
 
"The highlight of this conference organised by CII would be sharing of real time case studies of HR interventions, practices and systems that have been successfully implemented by the Indian companies effectively showcasing the role of HR in achieving business excellence," the statement said.
