The state always contributed a lion's share in the industrial growth of the country mainly due to pro-active industrial policy of the state."

The industrialisation led to clustering pollution industries along the rail and road corridor from Vapi to Mehsana. The fast development of industrial estate like Vapi and Ankleshwar were branded as environmental hot spots. Certain rivers and watersheds also suffered from contamination."
