CII to organise 'SmartMan 2004' in Chennai

Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is organising SmartMan 2004 - a conference on "Emerging integrated e-solutions for the manufacturing sector" on 24 September 2004, in Chennai.

This conference will be a part of CONNECT 2004 "� The Enterprise ICT ( Information, communication, technology) event that is being held in association with the government of Tamil Nadu between September 22 and 25.

SmartMan will focus on the emerging integrated e-solutions for the manufacturing sector and give an insight into the latest trends and developments in ICT in specific industry segments.

Issues such as strategies to enhance return on investment (RoI) on IT, optimisation, integration of operations across enterprise through E-Commerce, application of IT in protection control and so on, will be covered at the conference.

Companies such as Ashok Leyland Ltd, ABB Ltd, Hyundai Motor India Ltd, Nicholas Piramal Enterprises, Whirlpool, Ranbaxy Laboratories, Caterpillar India, Orchid Pharma and Henkel Spic are likely to submit case studies and highlight the advantages of IT applications in various manufacturing processes.

Noshir Khory, director (technology), Motorola, USA, and a member of the adjunct faculty at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago will speak on the significance of IT in Six Sigma Implementation at Motorola.
