Domestic pharmaceutical giant Cipla has posted an increase of 40.94 per cent in its net profit for the quarter ended March, 2009, at Rs 252.92 crore compared with Rs 179.45 crore in the previous corresponding quarter.
Its net sales rose to Rs 1,235.17 crore during the quarter from Rs 1,081.62 crore last year, up 14.2 per cent.
On the annual basis, the company's net profit grew by 9.47 per cent to Rs 767.83 crore for the financial year ended March, 2009 from Rs 701.43 crore in the previous year.The net sales for the year stood at Rs 4,972.69 crore against Rs 3,997.90 crore last year, up 24.38 per cent.
On the Bombay Stock Exchange, the company's shares closed trading on Friday at Rs 239.35, up 3.59 per cent.
