CITU keen to save iron ore

Steel companies and trade unions have come together to oppose export of iron ore.
 
M K Pandhe, president of CITU, said here today that export duty on iron ore would not solve the situation, a complete ban was necessary.
 
A national convention on iron ore was held today to discuss the concerns of indiscriminate iron ore export from the country to the tune of 100 million ton.
 
The convention was organized by major trade unions like Citu, Aituc and HMS along with the Steel Executive Federation of India (Sefi) and was joined from the industry by industry representatives like Tata Steel, Jindal Steel, Essar Steel, All India Sponge Iron Producers' Association, besides their public sector counterparts.
