The MoU was signed for a period of five years between Punjab Agricultural University and the Class India Ltd, said a release issued here today. Speaking on the occasion, Catherina Claas, deputy chairperson of the company said that the company manufactures more than 70 HP Tractors and is now focusing on state-of-the-art combine harvesters.
"If one wants to be a leader, one must keep running" said she emphasising that for a tangible progress consistency was utmost needed.
PAU Vice-Chancellor M S Kang said that mechanisation of agriculture has become more and more important in view of the need for timeliness and precision of operations and shortage of labour. He highlighted that the College of Agricultural Engineering at PAU has developed some field-worthy farm technologies. Kang said the MoU would benefit students and help to bring back knowledge to PAU, thus proving academically beneficial through a symbiotic liaison.
Jan-Handrik Mohr, executive vice-president of Class said that the MoU is being signed on long-term basis and hoped that it would be reciprocally beneficial for the organisations through their forward and backward linkages as it would provide opportunities for students to have new experience that would be useful to them later.
