The JD(S) today charged Karnataka chief minister B S Yeddyurappa with violating the model code of conduct by addressing individual letters to beneficiaries of old age pension scheme and said it would complain to the Election Commission about it.

Releasing copies of the letter written by Yeddyurappa to beneficiaries of ‘Sandhya Suraksha’ scheme, under which the government extends Rs 400 monthly pension to aged people, JD(S) leader

H D Deve Gowda said the party would also seek action against officials who furnished the addresses of beneficiaries to the chief minister.

In his letter, Yeddyurappa said the scheme implemented by his government benefited 3.5 lakh senior citizens and sought their blessings.
