The move is expected to reduce the occurrences of complaints/counter complaints and procedural delays in purchasing function, a CIL press release said.

The contract with MSTC Ltd was finalised after a competitive bidding process, it said.

The estimated value of purchase to be handled through e-procurement would be around Rs 3,400 crore in the first year, it said adding that the materials included equipment, consumables, spare parts etc.

CIL had earlier introduced the 'integrity pact' with its vendors to avoid delays in large-scale global procurement for all its contracts as suggested by central vigilance commissioner.

Integrity pact was a tool devised by Transparency International worldwide to fight corruption in public contracting.

CIL had appointed about 15 independent external monitors to oversee the entire tender evaulation process.
