In a bid to combat the increasing exodus of manpower in the private sector, Coal India Ltd (CIL) is contemplating a revision of the performance management system and introduce a performance oriented evaluation for its employees. |
The performance based evolution would be implemented within the current fiscal. |
Along with this the company would also revisit the additional perks given to the employees outside the salary structure to make a CIL job more attractive and performance based. |
"Poaching by the private players is a big issue. Last year we lost 1000 employees to the private mining players, hence with the wage revision we are revisiting the compensation structure," said senior officer from the HR department of CIL. The company is also planning to visit the leading mining colleges in the country for campus selection. |
Last year CIL selected 140 candidates through campus selection and this year the number would increase to around 200, the official added. |
"There are 2000-3000 vacancies in the officers level on the account of the retirement in the last few years and we have hired around 1300 officers and 1500 non officers in the last fiscal, and we intend to hire a same number this fiscal too," he said. |
The company has engaged one of the IIMs to prepare a report on the executive manpower development program. |
In addition to this CIL is undertaking training programs for both the freshers and existing employees. |
"We would also undertake a skill development program for the senior employees particularly to prepare them in sync with the new technical softwares," he said. |
