The Cochin Port Trust (CPT) has bagged the 'Old is Gold' award given by Pune-based Kirloskar Brothers Ltd (KBL), for the oldest Kirloskar industrial pump in working condition in India.
The award-winning 40 HP pump is installed in the water supply section of the Cochin port, and has been in working condition for the last 60 years. CPT said in a release that the maintenance of the pump was done by its mechanical section.
There are four pumps still in working condition 60 years afer installation. The award was given as part of the centenary celebration of KBL recently.
Joji Paul, executive engineer, CPT, received the award from Sanjay Kirloskar, MD, KBL. The award consists of a commendation certificate and free replacement of old pump with new one.
