Cochin Shipyard gets Rs 2000cr order

Cochin Shipyard (CSL) has received orders worth over Rs 2,000 crore for constructing 21 platform supply vessels for European and American clients. The vessels would be ready in 2-3 years.

In another development, CSL today delivered another platform supply vessel to Deep Sea Supply, Norway. Fifth in a series of eight ships being built for the company, this platform supply vessel was of the popular UT-755 L design for the offshore industry, CSL stated in a press release.

The vessel was designed for transport of deck cargo, pipes, liquid cargo, cement or barrite and unloading to rigs and production platform, pipe laying barges, the release said.

As the offshore industry moves into deeper waters, demand for such advanced vessels is expected to be higher. The ships have been designed by Rolls Royce ship technology group.
