Coke posts 8% volume growth in India in Q1, 2013

The US-based company, which announced its global earnings for the first quarter, said brand Coca Cola grew by 30% in India

Beverages major Coca Cola Company today said it has posted 8% sales growth in volume terms in India for the first quarter ended March 29, 2013.

The US-based company, which announced its global earnings for the first quarter, said brand Coca Cola grew by 30% in India during the first quarter.

"India sparkling beverage volume growth in the quarter was led by brand Coca-Cola, up 30%, and driven by strong integrated marketing campaigns and continued expansion of packaging choices to consumers," the company said in a statement.

Globally, the company reported volume growth of 4% for the first quarter.

The company's Q1 net income was down $1.75 billion, compared to $2.05 billion in the same period last year. Net revenue stood at $11.03 billion, compared to 11.13 billion in the same quarter last year.
 

Coca-Cola Company's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Muhtar Kent said: "I am pleased with our first quarter performance results, having once again delivered solid growth against the backdrop of a still uncertain global economy."
