To invest Rs 200 crore in the proposed project.

Eyeing the enterprise resources planning (ERP) solutions and software testing services for pharma and engineering companies in and around Gujarat, New Jersey-based Collabera Inc is planning to invest close to Rs 200 crore to set up a regional centre in Vadodara.

Collabera, formerly known as Global Consultants Inc (GCI), has offices in India at Vadodara, Bangalore, Mumbai and Thiruvananthapuram, and caters to US-based clients only.

The company's ERP solutions are offered across verticals like financial services, communications and media, and manufacturing, retail and logistics.

"We are looking at hiring over 2,000 people in areas like ERP solutions, software testing services, legal process outsourcing, engineering design services for the regional centre that will cater to domestic clients. We are in talks with companies like Cadila Pharma and Essar Refinery to offer these services. Roughly, the centre would require an investment of around Rs 200 crore, though the plan is still on the drawing board," said Rajesh Talati, director-projects, Collabera. The company employs around 350 professionals in Vadodara.

According to Talati, the company derives over 90 per cent of its revenue from serving clients in the US such as Bank of America, AT&T, Caterpillar and Ford.

However, it has now begun focusing on Europe and the Asia Pacific region for growth. Application development maintenance (ADM) is the largest contributor to its revenues.

Collabera, whose Indian operations began through the acquisition of Microland's offshore outsourcing firm Planetsia in 2005, has also set its eyes on developing platform of add-on SAP in India, especially Western region.

"We have begun catering to government compliance requirements like excise or export report documents under the SAP platform," said Talati.

The $310 million company changed its name from GCI with an aim to evolve from being IT consultant to an end-to-end IT services and business solutions providers.
