Having already tied up with over two-dozen hospitals, including superspecialty hospitals across India, to promote medical tourism in the country, Chandigarh-based Doctor Z India Healthcare (Pvt) Ltd, the only registered medical tourism company in northern India, is in the process of having a tie-up with leading travel agencies. The company says it enables its clients to choose the destinations of their choice as there are several exotic locations in the country to visit besides availing medical treatments.
Further, the company has also appointed its coordinators in the UK, Ethiopia, East Africa, Kenya, West Asia and Tanzania to attract non-resident Indians and foreign patients.
Speaking to Business Standard, Doctor Z India Managing Director Zora Singh said, “We have incorporated this company to promote medical tourism. Medical tourism is one of the fastest growing businesses and has huge potential. With rising prices of medical treatment in UK, USA and other countries like South and East Africa and a long waiting-list, India has become a major player in medical tourism. Another reason for coming to India for the treatment is our hospitals are well equipped with magnificent infrastructure and advanced medical technology at par with several developed countries like UK and USA.”
He added the company would provide comprehensive customised services for medical tourist coming in India and not merely to schedule an appointment with a physician and sign the patients up for a treatment but to make medical tourism successful by having tie-up with leading tour operators.
He added till now medical tourism has been confined to a few selected hospitals in India. “Few existing companies working on medical tourism are having only a liaison work with the private hospitals for the purpose of reference for the treatment of international patients. But we have moved a step further not only for providing excellent treatment to their patients but also to take a lead in establishing international patient care centre in our hospitals with whom the company has tied up,” he said.
The company through its network is connected with other private hospitals, selected medical centres, surgeons and physicians in and around Chandigarh, Delhi, Gurgaon, Pune, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad and other important medical institutions located in India.
It is worth noting that medical tourism has witnessed tremendous growth in recent times. It is indeed a robust growth in this new emerging field as the flow of international patients for seeking treatment in India has also increased.
