The Adani Group has renewed its efforts to set up a port and port-based industrial cluster, along with a thermal power project, in Andhra Pradesh.

It had earlier sought 50,000 acres of land in two phases, but the state government asked it to come up with a realistic requirement. The group proposed to invest Rs 25,000 crore in the projects. A company delegation met chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Thursday with a revised proposal for land, sources told Business Standard.

While the chief minister’s office refused to comment on the outcome of the meeting, a senior government official said Adani had brought down the land requirement to 10,000 acres. A company spokesperson said such meetings were routine.

The company had approached the government last year for land and other support at Pentikota in the Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemical Investment Region in Visakhapatnam district. It had sought 10,000 acres in the first phase and 40,000 acres in the second phase.
