Mobile value added services (VAS) firm Comviva today launched its online gaming solution (OGS), which will enable users download games on their mobile phones through a single click.
The user needs to download the 'OGS client' software, which provides 'one-click' access to a variety of games, Comviva said in a statement.
The solution, which also offers personalisation features, was launched at the GSMA Mobile World Congress 2010 in Barcelona, Spain.
The solution ensures users only see games that are compatible with their mobile devices.
"Recent reports show mobile gaming industry revenues globally are expected to grow from $4.3 billion in 2008 to $7 billion by 2013. We believe that online gaming options can drive industry revenues far beyond this, especially in price-sensitive emerging markets," Comviva Chief Executive Officer Manoranjan Mohapatra said.
This is why the OGS represents such a significant step in building the mobile gaming market since consumers will also benefit from highly flexible pricing propositions, he added.
Currently, an upfront one-time payment to download a game is the dominant pricing model in the mobile gaming industry.
"The relatively high price of downloads, together with consumer uncertainty as to whether they will like the game restricts service usage and growth. OGS enables operators to offer ‘try first, then pay’ models," Mahapatra said.
